Now Accepting Applications for Home Repair Program

Chattanooga-TN- The Department of Neighborhood Services and Community Development announces the application period for the upcoming 2010 World Changer Home Repair Program. The application period for this year’s program begins Tuesday, December 8, 2009 and concludes Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. Home repairs will take place July 12- July 24, 2010.



World Changers, a Ministry of the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, continues its partnership with the City of Chattanooga Department of Neighborhood Services and Community Development for the eighth year to provide free labor to qualified senior citizens residing within the Chattanooga City limits. In recent years, funding for the project has provided through Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds administered by the department.
In order to meet eligibility requirements, homeowners must be a Chattanooga resident, at least 62 years of age, or be a disabled homeowner of any age. Social Security documentation of disabled status must be provided. Applicants must be low income based on Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines and own and reside in the home that is to be repaired. In addition, all city and county property taxes must be paid through December 2009. Homeowners who received service from World Changers within the last three years (2007, 2008 or 2009) or that received assistance from the 2009-2010 Roofing Repair Program are not eligible for this year’s program.
Four application assistance workshops will be held throughout the city to prepare applicants for this year’s process.

  • Wednesday, January 27 South Chattanooga Recreation Center 1151 W. 40th Street
  • Wednesday, February 10 Avondale Recreation Center 1305 Dodson Avenue
  • Tuesday, February 23 North Chattanooga Recreation Center 406 May Street 6-7:30 p.m.
All Wednesday workshops will take place from 10:30-12:00 p.m.
