Crime alert: Southside Cowart Google Group

Tony Brown was broken into last night & he confronted the thieves with his gun. Fortunately, nothing happened & they ran. I was just home for lunch & and I saw three police cars in the neighborhood. I saw one walking from a house at 18th & Williams, so I stopped to speak with him. There was another break-in today at around 11:30a at that house. He was in the midst of the investigation, but gave me his contact information for future use. Can you please post this information on the Google group?  He stated that we can call his personal cell (693.3264) anytime between 7a-3p that he is patrolling our area. And after 3p to call the non-emergency city dispatch (698.2525). It's Officer B. Smith, badge # 996.

He stated that he patrols our neighborhood & has for some years. He has noticed the increase in crime, but he keeps hearing of stories where people are noticing suspicious activities, but not calling in time or at all. Today was another example of this. Can you please help spread the word?

Cheers!

District 8 all hands meeting. Yes, that us.

This is the opportunity we've all asked for ... a chance to share and brainstorm a larger vision for our neighborhoods.

We asked Councilman McGary to bring the neighborhoods together, in an effort to create a more cohesive and supportive district, and he heard us. Now it’s your turn. Come share what’s on your mind, whether it’s concerns about education, traffic or crime. Come get some neighborly love, and let’s help create the neighborhood we all want!

We're simply going to meet new people, gather in small groups and share ideas, then come together as a district to shape a plan for District 8. To make it easy, we have two dates and locations, just pick which one is best for you.

Saturday, April 24, 9 to 11 a.m. at Eastside Elementary, 1603 S. Lyerly St. Continental breakfast will be served and you'll have a chance to win a prize.

or

Monday, April 26, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Brown Academy, 718 E. 8th St. Coffee and snacks will be provided and you'll have a chance to win a prize.
